On Saturday afternoon thirty-two golfers (15 men and 17 women) set off on the Ashludie course with a spring in their step. Good weather was promised, but the air was cool, and Fred depressed his group with talk about how the weather was scorching down south. Meanwhile Eric Radley’s tactic of bribing his team with donuts half-way round seemed to work a treat as he pipped Fred’s team at the post, winning by just one point with a superb score of 128.
Neil Gallacher’s team came 3rd with a score of 135, marginally beating David Smart’s team with the better inward half. The highest score was 138 (still good) which shows just how evenly matched the teams were. So well done to everyone who took part.
Afterwards in the clubhouse the hungry golfers enjoyed a terrific two course hot buffet meal in the main lounge before the prizes (sponsored by the club) were presented and generous raffle prizes distributed to the lucky ones. Gordon and Lee sponsored the ‘nearest the pins’ by donating 4 golf gloves.
1st (128) – E. Radley, J. McCutcheon, G. Smith, S. Taylor
2nd (129) – F. Hutcheon, M. Brown, C. Goodall, J. Farish
3rd (135 B.I.H) – N. Gallacher, K. Lowden, A. Biltcliffe, R. Philip
Nearest the pins:
3rd – Neil Gallacher
6th – Anne McKay
9th – Colin Cairnie
16th – Sheila Taylor
These events really are a great way to meet club members and the team format makes a nice break from the grind of keeping an individual score. So if you and your playing partners have never taken part in an event like this before please consider joining us for the Autumn Am-Am to be held on Saturday 25th August from 1-3pm.
